On his advice to those wanting to follow in his footsteps
“Be smart about it. You can do whatever you want to do but have a bit of thought behind it. What if it doesn't work? Figure out why your parents are saying this instead of that. Because it's really all about art and commerce, right? The entire world, every product, everything. Yeah, we want the car to look cool, but it's going to cost too much, so commerce comes in. If you can figure that out, you can pretty much do anything in life. It's art and commerce. Whatever profession you go into, just remember that. Let's say you're going to be an artist. You’ve got to give respect to the people who are figuring out the budget, too. Why are they giving you a deadline? Don't hate them because they're doing it and have this contentious relationship, like we used to do with producers. [Laughs] There's a reason [for the deadline]. Art and commerce have to work hand in hand.
