Greetings!
Also, I’m sorry.
I never got around to sending a weekly hello email on Monday. Or a bonus something-or-other on Wednesday. I’m heading out on a week-long family vacation on Saturday and have spent the past few days scrambling to finish many assignments. Things are always craziest right before the relaxation period. (The irony—stressing in order to relax!)
Anyway, consider this a belated Monday greeting, or maybe a super early greeting for next week. And please accept my sincere apologies for slacking on posts. I promise it’s only because I’m trying to get my interviews written up and scheduled for tomorrow and next Friday.
Speaking of…I’m excited to share my latest interview off Substack—a chat with actor Wendell Pierce. We had a wonderful conversation about his work on The Wire, his many current projects (Superman, Thunderbolts, Elsbeth, Highest 2 Lowest), his beloved hometown of New Orleans, the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the healing power of the arts, and so much more. You can find it here.
And I hope you had a chance to read my chat with my 1985 TV boyfriend Mackenzie Astin. I loved our conversation and was really moved by what he said about storytelling and the arts.
Tomorrow I’ll share my recent chat with 5x Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Joe Hill, who has spent his career traveling to war-torn countries in order to bring untold stories to light. His latest film, Match in a Haystack, is the inspirational story of a contemporary dance group in Ukraine as they struggle to find purpose in the months after Russia’s invasion.
And next week you’ll get my interview with critically-acclaimed author Diane McKinney-Whetstone about her fantastic new novel Family Spirit.
That’s it for now. More to come when I’m back from vacation land. Wishing you a wonderful, art-filled couple of weeks!
